AGS pupils excel in Basketball

Pupils from the AGS under 15 and 14 squads have made great strides in their basketball this year.

The under 15 squad is undefeated in two years and are current Bucks County Champions. From this squad Matthew Sharpe and Joe Shaw have represented the South of England and continue to attend the South West Area Performance Centre (APC) where they are monitored for England Squad potential.

The under 14 boys have had similar success reaching the County Cup Semi Final in 2009 and being crowned Champions in 2010. There has also been individual success with Ashley Firmin and Edward Clarkson representing their region and attending regular APC sessions. Robert Humpston has also earned an invite to the South APC starting in February 2010.

All the boys have also been fortunate enough to tour Europe during their time playing basketball and have played in tournaments in Spain, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia and Sweden. This year 5 of the boys have also been invited to play in the NCAA certified National Invitational Tournament in Springfield, Massachusetts where they will be watched by US College Coaches.
