Aylesbury Grammar School has announced a bespoke student athlete partnership agreement with Halton Tennis Centre (HTC). The new partnership will mean AGS will become a Tennis Development Centre for the area, and HTC will offer a fantastic facility for Aylesbury Grammar School students, other local schools and beyond which will encourage participation and enjoyment of tennis at all levels.
AGS is the first state school to create such a partnership and it will enable AGS students to benefit from the exceptional facilities and coaching at Halton Tennis Centre. Halton has a clear inclusive vision for the Centre with the ethos that ‘each talented, each different but all are valued’. They pride themselves on welcoming everyone meaning players who participate will have the opportunity to play tennis within an academy environment and enjoy professional coaching on a regular basis. Players will also have the opportunity show case their talent with a view to ultimately working towards a bespoke and flexible training programme which will allow the best players to integrate their studies with their training. The partnership will also support the “Outreach Programme” already in operation within the school which will encourage local primary schools to participate as part of the Development Centre.
Stephen Lehec, Head Master, is delighted this leading partnership has been sealed. “This is a long-term sustainable partnership building on the success of all aspects of AGS and Halton Tennis Centre, offering a strong base for participation and enjoyment of tennis with a high pinnacle of excellence. It will enable Aylesbury Grammar School to compete at the highest level of competitive tennis.”
Halton Tennis Centre is a non-profit making charity that reinvests its’ surplus to improve the services and facilities every year and so for AGS it offers not only state-of-the-art facilities, but the opportunity for our most talented players to benefit from high performance coaching. Going forward the school will consider, on a case-by-case basis, a bespoke education programme for talented students attending HTC that enables them to undertake an agreed number of GCSE subjects. If you are interested in learning more about this ground-breaking opportunity please contact Stephen Lehec, Head Master (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Halton Tennis Centre probably enjoys the best club tennis and health and fitness facilities in Buckinghamshire with a superb choice of 19 tennis courts (3 indoor acrylic, 3 indoor clay, 6 artificial grass and 4 hard – 6 of which are floodlit) and a unique indoor 3 court mini zone.
