This year, 2023, marks the 425th anniversary of the foundation of Aylesbury Grammar School in 1598. That’s 425 years of educating local students. Since its foundation, the School has survived 19 monarchs, the upheaval of two world wars – as well as the English Civil War – and various relocations around Aylesbury.
We provide an education for each and every student which is unparalleled in breadth and quality of opportunity, but in order to maintain this we need facilities to match our vision. We face significant financial challenges.
We are an “Outstanding” School (Ofsted, November 2022), one of the most successful schools in the country, however, it might surprise you to learn we also remain one of the lowest funded schools in the country. AGS has occupied its current site for over a century and has some rapidly deteriorating learning and teaching spaces – many are not fit for purpose and educating in the modern world -and so, this is where you come in.
Donations are the lifeblood of the School and every donation makes a significant difference. They are not used to top up our Department of Education budget – they are used to make us the outstanding School we are by improving outdated facilities and making them fit for purpose.
Our Aylesburian Annual Fund feeds specific projects which make a direct and immediate impact on our School community and future-proofs AGS for generations to come. Projects are varied and are determined by just how out of date the facilities are. The Fund also supports our Financial Assistance provision which helps families who are unable to finance certain School activities.
AGS is a registered charity and so Gift Aid makes a tremendous difference to the impact of any donation. For every £1 you donate, the School receives an additional 25p at no cost to you.
