Progress 8; A measure of the progress children make between the end of primary school and the end of secondary school (Year 6 – 11). The score is usually between -1 and +1 and the average score of all secondary schools nationally is 0. A score of +0.5 or above shows that students are making well above the expected level of progress.
Attainment 8; The average raw point score from the eight qualifications.
Progress 8 and Attainment 8 are based on students’ performance in eight qualifications. English and maths, up to three subjects from the Ebacc list, and students’ three highest scores from a range of other qualifications, including GCSEs and approved non-GCSEs. English and maths are given double weighting to reflect their importance.
Grade 5 of above; Percentage of exam results that were at least a grade 5 or above.
EBacc Average Points; The average points achieved in six core academic subjects: English, maths, history or geography, 2 sciences and a language.
